Kickstart your future: Your career starts now

At Hope Gas we’re committed to our communities and to the next generation of workers. In fact, we developed the "Keep Our Kids in West Virginia" initiative to showcase career paths in the oil and gas industry, allowing our youngest Mountaineers to explore the opportunities available right here in their backyard.

It’s an initiative unique to Hope Gas. We are showing the next generation that they live in a special place full of promise and job opportunities and can enjoy a career with family-sustaining wages while staying amidst the natural beauty and hometown traditions they know and love.

 

Helping middle schoolers explore the future

Through our K-12 programs we recognize impactful school/business partnerships that give students a leg up in academic success and career preparation. We regularly connect with middle schools to show students the wide range of opportunities available in the natural gas industry. 

It’s never too early to start thinking about tomorrow, and we give our tweens plentiful exposure to the many career paths in the natural gas industry so they can make informed choices as they grow older. 

 

Test the industry waters in high school

Having whet students’ appetites, we then offer a four-week paid program for rising high school juniors and seniors to experience a variety of hands-on jobs like heavy equipment operator and lead line locator up close and personal. Through a partnership with the Education Alliance, a nonprofit that advocates for a quality public education for all West Virginia children, the program showcases how furthering their education at a technical or trade school or community college readies them for a solid job at Hope Gas; they don’t need to commit the time and money to a four-year college program to enjoy a rewarding career, and they don’t need to leave West Virginia to have a viable future. 

 

Hands-on future for college students: Start your career now 

For college students, we offer a robust, eight-week paid internship program across engineering, finance, accounting, marketing & communications, cybersecurity, regulatory, and human resources departments. 

Interns gain experiential learning in their specific areas of study and across the broader natural gas industry. They’ll shadow technicians out in the field, take some of the Hope Gas 101 courses required of new hires, and participate in professional development activities like attending a company board meeting.

We want to ensure they have the opportunity to stay in this special place they call home and enjoy a career earning family-sustaining wages at a company invested in helping them grow to become the best versions of themselves.
